Choosing a domain and domain redirection

When you create an alias email address domain for email marketing campaigns, you'll be creating a different domain.

  • Official Domain: acme.com
  • Alias Domain: acme.co, acmeco.com (etc)

You have to make sure to create a forwarding rule for acme.co so that when people go to acme.co, they are redirected to your official domain: acme.com. Recipients may try to visit your website before replying to your email, and without domain redirection, they won’t find themselves on your website and will not reply to your email. This usually leads to a deleted email or even a spam report, which is the worst thing that a recipient could do to your reputation.

Namecheap -- the service we are using for this example -- offers a very easy way to redirect from your alias domain to your hero/official domain. Your domain registrar will have something similar.
