Choosing a domain and domain redirection

You'll create a different domain when you create an alias email address domain for email campaigns. This will help to protect your main domain. For example:

  • Official Domain: acme.com
  • Alias Domain: acme.co, acmeco.com (etc)

You have to make sure to create a forwarding rule for acme.co so that when people go to acme.co, they are redirected to your official domain: acme.com. Recipients may try to visit your website before replying to your email, and without domain redirection, they won’t find themselves on your website and will not reply to your email. This usually leads to a deleted email or even a spam report, which is the worst thing a recipient could do to your reputation.

Each domain registrar has their own steps to set this up, but we've linked to some of the most common ones here:

If you don't see your domain listed, don't worry! Just check your domain registrar's help docs and search for "domain redirect," and it's almost guaranteed you'll find the steps you're looking for. If you have trouble finding that, we do recommend reaching out to your domain registrar's support team since they'll have the best knowledge about their systems.
