Do I need to set up SPF and DKIM records?

SPF, DKIM and DMARC records are little bits of information you set up with whomever you bought your domain from (GoDaddy, for instance). These are part of your DNS settings and help email services trust your sending as legitimate. Without these pieces of information setup, you will encounter sending errors and/or end up in spam.

For @gmail.com or @outlook.com email address sending:

No. These emails are domains that are managed by the email service provider and they maintain their own records. This also applies to other generic email addresses like @yahoo.com, etc.

Note: We see better engagement and long term deliverability when sending via a domain which is why we do not recommend sending from generic email addresses like @gmail.com or @outlook.com.

For Google Workspaces (formerly GSuite Accounts) Domains

Yes. These settings aren't specific to Mailshake, but you will need to make make sure your DNS records are updated to include the proper SPF, DKIM, and DMARC settings for Google.

For Microsoft Domains:

Yes. These settings aren't specific to Mailshake, but you will need to make make sure your DNS records are updated to include the proper SPF, DKIM and DMARC settings for Microsoft.

For SMTP sending:

Yes. However, these settings aren't specific to Mailshake. They'll just be part of setting up your email domain. Check with your email provider as they will have specific help articles to walk you through this set up process.
